Dr. Timmcke received his undergraduate degree from Dickinson College and his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine where he graduated with honors and was inducted in Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. He completed his residency in General Surgery at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland and his Colon & Rectal Surgery Fellowship at Jewish Hospital, Washington University of St. Louis Medical Center where he also completed a Research Fellowship in Colon & Rectal Surgery examining the use of monoclonal antibodies in the detection and treatment of colon and rectal cancer. Dr. Timmcke is board certified in General Surgery and Colon & Rectal Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He joined Ochsner Clinic in 1987. Dr. Timmcke is a prolific colorectal researcher and has authored, co-authored and edited numerous scientific journal articles and chapters for medical textbooks. He has been recognized in Whos Who in America, Best Doctors in America, and Whos Who in American Medicine. His interests include reservoir procedures for inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer surgery, sphincter preserving surgery for cancer, anal sphincter repair for incontinence, laparoscopic surgery, post-surgical reconstruction of sphincters, and the surgical treatment of hemorrhoids, anal fissures and anal fistulae.
