Dr. Newman received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Harvard University where he conducted research on superoxide and regulation of the genetic cascade after oxidative damage in the cell. He obtained his medical degree from the Stanford University School of Medicine. As a medical student, he also conducted research on retroviral vectors for gene transfer. Dr. Newman completed his pediatric residency at Harvard Medical School at the Children’s Hospital of Boston..
Prior to beginning his new practice at Southern Oregon Pediatrics, Dr. Newman practiced pediatrics in the San Francisco Bay Area for seven years. He worked an inpatient physician caring for hospitalized and critically ill children and later transitioned to caring for children in a primary outpatient setting.
Dr. Newman's interests in pediatrics involve nutrition and its role in inflammatory disorders, immune function, behavior and healing. He is committed to helping families find effective ways to promote a condition of optimum health. Dr. Newman speaks Spanish and French.
Dr. Newman is married and enjoys traveling, reading, learning new things, and spending time with his wife and family.
Dr. Newman is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.
