Dr. Philip Bear is a Des Moines native who has returned to practice medicine in his hometown. A graduate of Roosevelt High School, Dr. Bear attended Pitzer College in Claremont, CA, where he majored in psychobiology. He received his medical degree from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines (now named Des Moines University) three years later. Dr. Bear completed a three-year residency at the University of Missouri Hospitals in Kansas City, as well as a three-year invasive cardiology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Bear joined Iowa Heart Center in 1989. He is board certified in cardiology, and currently practices at our Pleasant and West University locations.
