Dr Knoll was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1959. He obtained a Bachelor's of Science degree in Chemistry at Ohio State University and then continued there for medical school. He took both his Internal Medicine training and Gastrointestinal Disease fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He served at Henry Ford as both Chief Medical Resident and Chief Gastrointestinal Disease Resident. Dr Knoll is married and has two daughters. He has a keen interest in flower gardening as well as history.
