Dr. Fortney grew up in Bismarck and attended the University of Mary for his undergraduate studies. He pursued his interest in ophthalmology at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and graduated as an M.D. in 1999. Upon completion of his Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Fortney and his family returned to Bismarck, and joined the Dakota Eye Institute staff in July 2003. Aaron will specialize in the evaluation and treatment of cataracts, glaucoma and diabetic eye disease, as well as eyelid and pediatric eye surgery.
Dr. Fortney has received many awards and honors, and is a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Christian Ophthalmology Society. In his personal time, Dr. Fortney enjoys motor sports, water sports, downhill skiing, camping, fishing and hunting. He also enjoys spending time with his wife Lisa and his children Adam and Alyssa.
